6-190 牽引台加木工緣

10/30 我們收到一封陌生木工人的電郵：自稱來自溫哥華，希望拜訪懷德居。電郵中說到自己曾受教 Allen Peters 門下，並在承繼 James Krenov 精神所創立的 Inside Passage 細木工學校，接受訓練。他報上了自己的學習經歷，還在信末表達渴望見面等等。

客人毛遂自薦，信裡提到 Allen Peters、James Krenov 以及 Inside Passage School of Fine Cabinetmaking 等。James Krenov 大名鼎鼎，木工人不認識，不配木工人；Allen Peters 過去也有所悉，除非同名同姓，至於 Inside Passage School of Fine Cabinetmaking 則未聽聞，但既舉著 based on the teachings of James Krenov 的名號，顯然值得先花點時間做些功課，以便和客人對話。

經由 google 確認，信中提到的 Allen Peters，即是懷德居館藏《Cabinetmaking - the professional approach》一書的作者，廿年前我曾帶領同學臨摹他新明式﹝Neo-Ming﹞條桌的造法，不中不西，非典桌案。製作完成後，擺放在研究室自用直到退休，這十多年間所有進出研究室的賓客，幾乎都視而不見，惟一例外，僅只舊金山前中國古典家具博物館柯惕思﹝Curtis Evarts﹞館長來訪時，發現了她的獨特。
